Renal dosing, restrictions and evidence limits
The selected label advises great caution, if any use, in severe renal insufficiency, congestive heart failure or edema with sodium retention. Reduced kidney function can cause sodium retention during administration. Monitor fluid balance, electrolytes and acid-base status.
This historical product warning does not provide a CrCl-based dose adjustment or a modern symptomatic-hyponatremia correction protocol. Do not infer an infusion rate, correction target or dialysis strategy from the concentration or general water/electrolyte indication. Use the complete emergency/local treatment protocol when hypertonic saline is indicated.
