Methenamine hippurate tablets (Hiprex) - selected U.S. label sections
- Product / population
- U.S. HIPREX methenamine hippurate tablets; not methenamine mandelate or a foreign-label cutoff.
- Renal measure
- Qualitative U.S. contraindication; no numeric renal cutoff supplied.
Selected renal sections only, not a complete monograph. Exact product, indication, patient population, renal method and all other contraindications/interactions remain controlling.
Second independent renal reference and clinician adjudication remain pending; no all-indication, dialysis or pediatric dose may be inferred from an omitted field.
Renal contraindication
The U.S. label contraindicates HIPREX in renal insufficiency without supplying a numerical eGFR or CrCl threshold. Do not replace that wording with a cutoff taken from another jurisdiction.
Other relevant exclusions
Severe hepatic insufficiency and severe dehydration are also contraindications. Do not combine with sulfonamides because insoluble urinary precipitates can form.
