Renal dosing, restrictions and evidence limits
Renal dysfunction may increase systemic mafenide/metabolite concentrations and intensify carbonic-anhydrase inhibition, with metabolic acidosis risk. Closely monitor acid-base balance, especially with extensive burns or pulmonary/renal dysfunction; use caution in acute renal failure. No numerical CrCl-based reduction or dialysis regimen is supplied by this selected warning. This topical solution should not be marked as having no renal implications merely because no clearance-based dose table is available.
