Renal dosing, restrictions and evidence limits
Sucrose-free formulation does not eliminate acute renal dysfunction risk. Correct volume depletion and assess BUN/serum creatinine before the first infusion and at appropriate intervals; monitor urine output. For patients at increased renal risk, use the minimum practical infusion rate, less than 8 mg/kg/min (0.08 mL/kg/min) in this source. Consider discontinuation if renal function worsens. Do not substitute another immune-globulin product's infusion limit or interpret the rate ceiling as a target rate for every patient.
