Renal dosing, restrictions and evidence limits
Renal disease can increase hydrochlorothiazide concentrations and prolong elimination. The source warns about cumulative effects and precipitation of azotemia in severe renal disease. Monitor for fluid and electrolyte disturbances, including volume depletion and potassium or sodium abnormalities.
The selected renal passages do not establish a CrCl-based reduced-dose schedule. Reduced diuretic response does not by itself justify escalation in a patient developing azotemia or electrolyte toxicity. Apply the complete product contraindications and reassess kidney function and volume status.
