Renal dosing, restrictions and evidence limits
In renal impairment, parenteral-nutrition therapy requires frequent assessment of kidney function, electrolytes and fluid balance. Renal dysfunction and prematurity increase vulnerability to aluminum accumulation. The source also discusses BUN changes and metabolic acidosis in premature infants. These monitoring cautions do not establish a renal cysteine dose, protein target or safe aluminum threshold.
