An indignant gardening group objected when a shared hall rejected its booking while accepting another group's identical request under the same stated rule. Resentment lingered among the gardeners after several weeks because nobody explained the different treatment or responded to their questions. A countercharge complicated the exchange when the booking officer answered an accusation of favoritism by accusing the gardeners of misusing a storage cupboard. The facilitator recorded each claim separately, so the group could investigate the booking decision without silently accepting an unrelated allegation as its answer.

The indignant response concerned perceived unfair treatment, although the facilitator still needed to establish what had happened in the booking process. The continuing resentment reflected a sense of unresolved wrong rather than a momentary surprise about an inconvenient date. The countercharge might require its own inquiry, but even a supported complaint about storage would not automatically explain unequal application of the booking rule. The facilitator requested the relevant records for each issue and gave the participants a clear opportunity to respond to the claim actually being made about them.
