This calculator allows the user to quickly determine the exact amount of two additives in order to create two desired final concentrations.   In the example below, a 250 ml bag containing 12.5% dextrose and 1/4 NS = (0.225% NS) is determined.   See another example below....

First Additive Enter simple name to describe the first additive. Second Additive  Enter simple name to describe second additive.
Name of lower solution e.g. D5W, sterile water, etc. 
Lower solution concentration - percent (e.g. if using D5W, enter 5.0 without the % sign.  If sterile water used: Conc = 0)


Lower concentration (starting solution)
:  Note: if D5W, sterile water etc is used on the left, zero must be entered here under the saline column. 
Name of higher solution - e.g. D50 syringe, D70 etc

Higher solution concentration - percent, mg/ml, gram/ml etc. (e.g. if using D50 syringe, enter 50 without % sign - not 50%
Name of higher solution -e.g. D50 syringe, Concentrated NACL etc.
Higher solution concentration - percent, mg/ml, gram/ml etc. (e.g. if using D50 syringe, enter 50 - not 50%
Desired final concentration - percent, mg/ml, gram/ml or whatever.
Desired final concentration - percent, mg/ml, gram/ml or whatever.  Note: 1/4 NS = 0.225;    1/2NS = 0.45;  etc.
